Bursary Programme (Sep 10)

Other reports:  Back | Next

The following letter arrived recently from George Omollo, Secretary of the Got Matar Community Development Group Bursary Committee.

Currently, 173 children – most of whom are orphans – receive bursaries that meet a large part of the cost of attending the secondary school. The first 65 will take their final exams this year.

Many thanks to friends who have sponsored a number of these bursaries.

I shall not be taking up their kind invitation to visit the school before they leave. I believe that it is better to use the money that the journey would cost in order to keep the bursary programme going at a reasonable level and to support the creation of vocational skills training-cum income generating programmes that will eventually fund bursaries from local sources.

However, perhaps some of you of those who have sponsored bursaries would like to go and meet the children that you have supported. I can assure you that you would receive a great welcome!

Dear Sir,

Kindly accept our greetings and appreciations for all the financial support you, your friends and family members have made towards helping our less fortunate boys and girls acquire HIGH School Education.

Sir ,we find it prudent to let you know that the long journey we began in 2007, is delivering her first products by mid November. Our Form 4 Students sit for their final exams as from 21st October to mid Nov. Here bursary will present 65 candidates. It IS Unbelievable to many. Even the students themselves are amazed to be where they are. They call it a great miracle in their lives that they will live to remember. Many of them could be spoiled boys and girls today. They really appreciate what has happened. They are full of positive promises to achieve after school. Their only worry now is how to soldier on to Colleges of professionalism next year.

Now school has gone on August holiday recess up to Sept.6th, except for our senior students who are kept in for remedials as usual.

As pertains next term expenses, Grace had told you and you may also still refer to our Jan. details. nothing has changed.

Finally, appeal from Form 4 Students. They are asking you to spare some little time to come down and visit them before they complete at Got Matar Secondary. They really yearn to see you preferably by early October.

Best Wishes
George

George Omollo, Secretary of the Got Matar Community Development Group Bursary Committee
